Computer misuse act 1990

This is used in order to make a safe system for people to Protect those using computers.
  • This includes Unauthorised access to a computer and its materials
  • Unauthorised access to Private information with intent to harm
  • Unauthorised acts with intent to impair, or with recklessness as to impairing, operation of computer, etc.
  • Unauthorised acts causing, or creating risk of, serious damage
This includes Simple things like logging off a computer when you walk away from it, Examples of this can include NHS workers logging of so people cannot access patient records or files and not displaying passwords for computers
These are here to protect us, our data and the physical computer systems from hacking, accessing data that is confidential, obtaining passwords unlawfully, tampering with computers in order to gain information, and also falsely representing yourself as someone who you are not to cause harm

Screen display act 1992 & 2002
There are lots of variable including Refresh rates, depending on the country and monitor
At least 5 minutes away every hour
Regular testing must be carried out by your employer/ college
Employees can ask for employers to ask for a free eye test and it has to be done by a competent optician

The main problems encountered in using workstations are:
1. Tiredness caused by poorly designed or adjusted workstations.
2. Repetitive strain injury (RSI) and carpal tunnel syndrome.
3. Eye strain leading to headaches, fatigue and sore eyes.

Examples of this is our course where there is a lot college work involved this means we all fall under this law due to the amount of time we spend in front of screens

Safe working practices
copyrights
copyrights are valid for 75 years and can be passed on in a will
you can also get an intellectual copyright, which means that anything related to the idea or characters is still protected
everything on a webpage is copyrighted due to the millennium copyright act and this is basically used to state that anything that is online is copyrighted unless stated otherwise under creative commons
Who owns the copyright is usually stated at the bottom of the webpage, for example Bing is copyrighted by Microsoft

Creative commons
This is where Something on the internet is not copyrighted, so if an artist wants their music to be shared publicly/ used by others to get recognition etc then this  allows them to do so
Creative Commons licenses allow their holders to grant broad permission to others to share, remix, use commercially, or otherwise use their work without having to ask specific authorization for each use. This makes it "easier for people to share and build upon the works of others, consistent with the rules of copyright.

This is also means that it is free unless you are trying to make money from it
